Occasionally I'll go to a show, market..event where I'll need to hand out 'business cards' or 'promos'. Instead of handing out the usual business card, I like to hand out something a bit different to try and catch peoples' attention.
The graphic design part of course I did in Illustrator. They measure about 3" x 7.5" so not at all the standard "business card" size. In the past I've used this same design (with different colours), but in the white space I put a recent image that I've done, or some form of art specific to the event I'm catering to (ie. flowers at the market). This weekend I'll have a table at a dance show, advertising that I'll draw these little dancers. Portraits, headshots, action shots, group shots, etc. So I was trying to decide what to put in the 'blank space' and Nathan had the BEST idea EVER. He told me to leave it blank and then sketch something quick for each promo I give out on the spot! SUCH a cool idea. I'll do just that. These sketches will be very basic but stylized.
I'll post an update on how the show/promo sketches went after this weekend! Wish me luck :)
What a great idea! I love it!
