I'm the Primary pianist at church, and work with my awesome music director to play fun musical games with the kids and help them learn songs. Since St. Patrick's Day is coming up, I thought we could be festive during Sunday school!
I got this idea from someone else (lots of these blog ideas probably won't be my own), but she made a shamrock for each child in Primary. I'm going to write "I'm not Lucky. I'm blessed." on the white board at the front of the room. Each child will have a chance to either a.) write their name on the shamrock and bring it up to the whiteboard and tell Primary why they're blessed OR b.) write why they're blessed directly onto the shamrock then place it on the board. I haven't decided which one is better. Which do you think?
How does this tie into music time you ask? We'll sing a song that's related to each child's answer (we don't have that many kids, so it won't be too long). For instance, if a child says "I'm blessed because I have a nice family"..then we'll sing about families. That part will require a little improv, since we might get some funny answers like: "I'm blessed because I have toys!" Anyway, I'm making SEVERAL shamrocks from plain, old green construction paper for Sunday.
I'm not lucky, I'm blessed because I have my wonderful boys: my supportive husband and my chubby baby!
What a great idea!
